Lilac Town

There are people, having lived through the world wars, times of devastation, and finally the flood, destroying half of the earth, a thousand years later in Lilac Town. Have you managed to imagine the apocalyptical picture? Well, you can imagine it back.
After the dark times were gone, the Earth, having tired of people’s wars, made sure that it’s impossible to come back to what it was before, and the whole system of technology was destroyed. The new epoch has come. Someone would say, it was returning back to the past without cars and computers, but it was a new world with people, treasuring simple things of nature, art, love...
A thousand years later you can hear mentioning of those dark times only during the lessons of History and Earth studying. Though you will have to visit those lessons pretty often as the main story tells us about the Lilac School in that Lilac Town. It is a geographical or administrative centre of the town, yet some citizens enjoy the theatre rarely, and others think lowly about the sport stadium, and only officers go to the mayor’s office. But the school joins all citizens. Everyone has been there during their youth, and now someone has children there, or grandchildren, or friends among the teachers.
There is only one school in the town. Eleven regular teachers, two visiting ones, one headmaster, one deputy headmistress. A small town. Though there are no big cities anymore in the world! Only small towns, lost in the blooming of apple-trees, lilacs, jasmines, dandelions, different flowers when the spring comes. Lilac Town is just one of them. Its citizens say that their town is especially picturesque but they just like it very much. Teachers say that their school is the best but there are very good schools in other towns. Lilac Town is not special, but it is for its citizens and for us. Lilac School too.
We also think that this story is about love a lot: love between a father and daughter, love between a brother and sister, love between friends, homosexual love, and of course, love between a man and woman; first love, unrequited love, love between people who are as similar as if they grew up together, love between people who are different but want to learn to understand each other, love between parents, love that once was – and was gone...
Though every book is about love, they say. During one lesson of Literature, the middle-aged, but soft-hearted teacher Rita has to tell her sixteen-year-old students about one book...
“And love... Is there love?” someone whispers from the back row.
“There is love.” Rita answers. “As we must have understood from all years of our studying literature, there is no book without love.”
“Oh, there is!”
“Will you share your idea with us?”
“Physics textbook!” yells the clown of the class, Nukreant. “No, no! Chemistry textbook!”
“Well, well... “ the teacher smiles. “Chemistry textbook is about love between science and a man. With quite a tragic end sometimes.”
Our story doesn’t have a tragic end though. Just one year comes, passes by and goes away...
